Everyone loves a good party and Prime Focus know how to throw one! Launching their new Baselight and grading teams the global Post Production Facility had a blast! With over 500 RSVP's, the event went on into the small hours of Friday morning and there were many with hangovers the next day! The weather was fantastic to show off the rooftop and host a Barbecue and the music was amazing thanks to much loved DJ's including Stink's Miss G, Hil's Mac and Fasa who combined the beats to make it a top night all round.

Alongside the usual suspects of an industry party the company had a raffle and raised a huge amount of money for Centre Point, a charity that does wonderful work for the local community. Winners included Guido Fabris and Caroline Khouri from Chokolate who won a free grading package as well as a magnum of Champagne!

A tonne of fun was had watching everyone rock out on Guitar Hero and Sing Star, whilst it got surprisingly competitive on the Fusball table.

A Thursday night well done.

The New Zealand singer-songwriter Ladyhawke does a highly convincing turn as Faye Dunaway in a homage to the cult 1978 movie 'The Eyes Of Laura Mars'. Directed by Tabitha Denholm (Partizan) the promo was shot in New Zealand and lovingly recreates a fashion shoot sequence from the movie for the new single Black White & Blue. Sony Music worked with the artist and Henry to create a scenario of Will going through his morning routine with several manifestations of himself which follow and synchronize his own actions.

We Love Artworks. A three dimensional experience of visually stimulating art work and a stunning facility in the heart of the multicultural hub that is Amsterdam. Glassworks Post Production facility 'smash' it again with their latest Artworks exhibition the genius brainchild of Hannah Mcdonald.

With a selection of the finest hotdogs and alcohol, all in conjunction with some live body painting artists and a free cocktail bar sponsoring the event, it can't really get much better. Some 'bangin-tunes' downstairs (music provided by Hear No Evil) and a something to stimulate all the senses, these events are becoming some what of a cult feature within the Amsterdam Advertising scene and spreading fast. With more than a handful of visitors from over the river this time round, the love has spread, to the UK, leading to more than just the locals wanting to partake in this fabulous conception.

Working round the clock to make things just perfect, Hannah sources all the art and all are on offer to buy at the event. Hector Macleod (Founder of Glassworks Post Production facility) supports this project seeing the wonderful platform as supporting young up and coming talent / artists, but also the advertising industry, well... all work and no play makes for a dull life.

This exhibition saw the work of Super-A, MJay, Collin van der Slujis and Rutger Termohlen, all of which can be seen on the website and Facebook page.

Editor Frank has re-joined Cut+Run and will be based out of its Los Angeles office with global representation via the company's New York, London and Hong Kong shops. Effron is reunited with Founder and Editor Steve Gandolfi, core L.A ensemble; Jay Nelson and Issac Chen, working along side U.S. Managing Director Michelle Burke. The team continue a decade long collaboration that began when Burke was an executive producer at TBWA\Chiat\Day, Los Angeles. Over the years, Effron has been known for such diverse spot fare as Jimmy Dean's "SloMo Man" and "Dimwit" directed by the Perlorian Brothers for TBWA\Chiat\Day, Hyundai's "Driving Sheep" and "Childhood" helmed by Stylewar for Innocean, and Mercedes-Benz's "The Escape" directed by Carl Erik Rinsch. Ram Madhvani (Equinox Films) and Agency Lowe release ‘Greenply’, India’s the most lateral, topical commercial to date, generating a tremendous response in both the advertising fraternity and also viewers.

”Like the leading plywood brand’s TV Commercial goes, the dollar fetching 45 units of the Indian currency may not happen during our lifetimes” (daily newspaper of India Hindustan Times)

The idea came in the form of a single word, ‘Hoyenga’ i.e. ‘it’ll come to be.’ Manifesting a philosophy of; In the years to come, solutions to the issues of baldness, rising petrol prices, increasing mobile dependence might not come to be; Greenply Plywood, however, will ‘Always Be’. (Always Hoyenga) Ram partnered up with the Agency to develop the idea and bring it to life as a television commercial. Growing into an ironic and topical film set at a New Years Eve party bringing atmosphere and to it a celebratory theme. Composer Sameeruddin was commissioned to create a scratch track that could be used in play back on the shoot, the lyrics sum up the brand’s motto ‘durability of the product that endures the passage of time’ and were written by creatives Neeraj Singh and Amer Jaleel

“The best part of the creative development with Ram was that he junked our obvious ‘montage’ route and pushed us to think of alternate ways to symbolize the situations, frequently using the word ‘organic’ and ‘integrated’.

It was Ram’s sudden and seemingly random idea – ‘what if this whole thing was played out in a party?’” (Creative Director Amer Jaleel)

60 actors, cast by Abhimanyu Ray, one day of choreography by Avit Dias and a selection of sequences were all captured by DOP, Sejal Shah and second cameraman Navneet Misser in one single take. Bringing it all together were the able hands of Line Producer Sunitha Ram and Executive Producer Manoj Shroff, Associate producer Arya Menon and location Manager Mahesh Tawde together with our 1st AD Ananya Rane. Prakash Kurup the editor at Prime Focus made magic of the footage and breathed life into the film together with Colourist Morgan and Online Editor Bhibash. Handling the entire post process was young Kapil Sharma who saw to it that it all happened in schedule. Anna production designed the entire space and made the party look very believable. Using more unusual lighting design she used chandeliers that created a more decorative and interesting ambience to the space. Aashima Belapurkar breathed life into the characters and gave each one of them a backstory through her wonderful costumes.

Ram is represented by Great Guns outside of India, UK and USA, the talented director of over 20 years, famous for award winning commercials such as ‘Happydent’ as well as becoming President of the Jury of Film Craft at Adfest, Bangkok last year.

Attempting to do something a little differently, Nathan worked with directing Duo Charlie&Joe to create something amazing for band 'The Maccabees' (Universal). A short film that encapsulated and illustrated the themes of the band's new album; 'The Stages of Man' without a bar of music. An epic, landscape based, completely over-ambitious project successfully realised with the help of like minded talent with the same vision. A four-day shoot in Dartmoor and the Cornish coast with a tiny crew dodging rising tides and cliff edges.

"Produced by Alex Whiting, what made this film something out of the ordinary was that the team shot and cut the film without having heard a bar of music. This was partly because the band were still mixing and mastering when we started the edit, and partly because the band wanted to work like that, effectively using parts of the album to score a film that was placed in front of them..." Amidst all the nerves and blind editing, wondering if the tone, pace and visuals would match score, the band did an exceptional job of making their music work to the images, an unusual way of working, the music invigorated this project which made it ever so satisfying.

Glassworks shine with their latest accomplishment in association with BBH and Diageo drinks brand Johnnie Walker. Part of the ‘Keep Walking’ project and global campaign, the TV commercial ‘Step Together’ was launched to gain support for three original enterprises incorporating the arts, technology and business, all aimed at pioneering ideas to build a better future together. Leading 3D and Flame artists Alastair Hearsum and Duncan Malcolm worked tirelessly to make sure that this project was as strong in execution as it was in concept. Their 2D team consisted of an additional 4 compositors working on Autodesk Flame systems for 4 weeks with the whole project taking a total of two months to complete. Written by BBH creative team Caio Giannella and Diego Oliveira, with Justin Moore and Hamish Pinnell as creative directors, the film was shot by director Ne-O (Stink) on location in Iceland the extensive production required a village to be built from scratch and involved hundreds of extras.

Tangerine ♥: This great collection of paintings and collages will be exhibited on the Glassworks Amsterdam office walls for a 2 month period kicking off from mid March, with all proceeds from the exhibition going towards the Guy Champney memorial fund. The preview evening will see the first of a collaboration between Artworks and Sony Music, who will be providing live music from some of their newest talent on the night.

With a growing reputation for their preview events, Artworks had wanted to add a new element to the evening and were really happy when approached to collaborate with Sony music. Not only will the visitors have a preview to this greatly anticipated exhibition, they will get a taster of some of Sony's freshest signings. Mixing music with cocktails, tasty snacks and a fantastic guest list, this has all the ingredients for a great night.

Hobson Chant combine British urban influences with a surreal, post-modern twist complimented by their differing styles to produce this exhibition of colourful paintings, collages and intricate ink drawings. Duo Rick Chant and Barney Hobson are a successful creative team working within the advertising industry and whilst interpreting ideas for others professionally, they also take the time to channel their creative energy into more daring projects outside of the office.

The irreverent undertone of the work, combined with the kind hearted gesture of charitable donations (as per the request of Rick and Barney), has created a collection that Artworks is very proud to be exhibiting. Epic, colourful and far from anything small, this brilliant commercial is set to make a full impact on the audience with both narrative and effects. Robert Jitzmark has brought this campaign to life, directing the action-packed, all American world of the Monster Truck Rally. Camp David Productions, based in Sweden approached Glassworks to produce the first stereoscopic commercial in the Netherland’s. With a history of great performance and lateral humour Jitzmark, who has worked on other commercials with brands including Mac Donalds, Hyundai, Snickers and the Finnish National lottery has a real spark to his style.

This project was a real turning point for Glassworks. Exciting and technically challenging it has become an example of Glassworks leading the pathway for more stereoscopic work to be undertaken in the Dutch market. The challenge on Mini was, to create a seamless and subtle integration of CG elements as the fire effects, audience, car reflections and stadium extensions in to the stereoscopic footage.

The 3D sensation was created by recording the same shot from two different angles, this created an effect similar to human perception (using both left and right eye to experience our environment). Therefore, the Glassworks team had to produce the whole commercial twice, which would then be carefully merged together by Morten Vinther (Head of 2D) and the flame artists.

Tangerine ♥: Doktor Productions and Fried Pictures, Serbia.

The brilliant animated short film by the collabourative team from Belgrade has been awarded "Best Narrative Short" at 10th Valley Film festival in California. Setting up for a succesful screening in the trendy up and coming city, this film has spured a lot of attention leading to a new feature in the pipelines for all those involved. Fried pictures now repped by Great Guns in the Asian market with Ann Xiao are alrady busy shooting with director Peter Pasic (Doktor) in Egypt and have a fabulous year ahead lined up.

Well done to the team and good luck for 2011.

Tangerine ♥: Edgy, nail biting, exuberating and rather disquieting in a very cool way, Jon Park, a senior 3D artist at Glassworks has teamed up with his buddy Grant White alongside Chris Wood to become a directing trio ‘White Rabbit’. Signed for music videos with Agile Films for Music Videos and Picasso Pictures for Commercials, the team pitched and won the promotional viral from the former features editor, James McMahon, of NME magazine who has set up on his own.

It is really exciting that a Glassworks team member is also directing, and such edgy work that is frankly gripping. As a new kid on the block, this ‘doco’ style viral is such a brilliant collaboration of both his post work and flourishing skill sets. Such an in depth knowledge of post-production lends a huge weight to directing and is really a tribute to the creative flow that continues to race through Glassworks. This is an awesome example of fantastic use of 3D and effects, to the point that it directs as a documentary leading to bloggers discussing that ‘ReadStunt’ threw a launch party and it went wrong.

Tangerine ♥: Glassworks' Ford UEFA. Nail biting and iridescent, it is marvelous how Ford have integrated the skill and talent of footballers to mirror their brand. Glassworks worked closely with Blink Inc director Noah Harris, who is a favourite director for Ogilvy on the 4 sponsorship spots. The blend of superb 500 frames per second football drama captured on the Phantom Gold high-speed camera by DOP Alex Barbour and Noah's unnerving eye for detail and graphic design were gelled together by Glassworks team of 3D and 2D compositors.

Tangerine ♥: E-Pigs, the short film from Fried pictures. E-PIGS is a love story about a ‘Peasant Couple’ who decide to try and find a partner for their pig. A concept developed by Director Petar Pasic and Vuk Tatalovic co-founder of Fried Pictures was advanced into a script by screenwriter Dimitrije Vojnov. The basic plot follows the Peasant’s search discovering a mate for their pig, they end up with one who is out of the ordinary and has come from a wasteland of technological garbage. It has been a huge success at international festivals receiving nominations and an award, most recently in the Mediterranean Short Film festival Tangier 2010
